5 Essential Oils and Their Shocking Benefits
If you know us at MAC’s, we LOVE essential oils for SO many different purposes! Whether filling our rooms with heavenly, soothing scents, or using them for their amazing healing/treatment properties, we love to find appreciation in all of them, and we want to share the magic of some of the most simple essential oils with all of you!
Essential oils can be used in a multitude of ways, from diffusion to fill the air around you and please everyone, to inhalation of an essential oil, to a simple topical application to prom=blem areas if the product can be used as such, to a massage in any of those areas. We’ve put together some of the most common, yet effective essential oils and what they’ll do for you!
- Lemon Oil
These days, lemon scented things are EVERYWHERE! But if you come across a natural lemon essential oil, not only will it have that fresh, uplifting scent that has been shown to truly uplift people’s spirits, but it can also treat wrinkles, promote circulation, and tone your skin! D-limonene in diluted lemon oils has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and skin repairing properties! This is something we ALL love to hear!
- Lavender Oil
This amazing oil with a scent very prevalent in skincare and self-care products has so many soothing properties, both for your mind and skin! It stimulates the brain, but it can also relax anxieties and especially help with sleep! It can calm sensitive skin or acne-prone skin, heal minor wounds or pains, and it also helps keep those allergies at bay! Try an eye pillow hinted with lavender essential oil laid over your eyes at night if you’d like to get rid of your itchy eyes and sneezing!
- Eucalyptus Oil
This fresh-smelling oil often regarded for its health and wound healing properties can often also be overlooked! Eucalyptus oil is very anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic, most often used by inhalation or topically to treat colds, allergies, congestion, sore throats, and other pains. Beauty lovers will be happy to know that eucalyptus oil can be mixed with a carrier like coconut oil and applied to the hair and scalp to promote healthy hair and growth!
- Sweet Orange Oil
This one is a personal favorite! Diffuse some sweet orange essential oil, and you are guaranteed to feel more awake, energized, inspired, and hopeful! Orange oil has many antioxidant, antidepressant, anti-microbial, and antiseptic properties! It even has a carminative property that helps expel intestinal gas! When mixed with a carrier, this oil can do wonders for dry or acne-prone skin!
- Peppermint Oil
This intensely cool-smelling oil has one of the oldest herbs used medicinally. It is antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, and even antiparasitic! Inhalation of this oil will help to clear sinuses, as well as bring clarity and focus to the mind. Many use a carrier to apply this oil to their temple areas to help treat headaches! This oil can also even be used as an insecticide!
The aforementioned essential oils are only a tiny dusting of the enormous and magical world of essential oils, not to mention combined essential oil products you may find! We encourage you to always do some research on essential oils and try some out safely for yourself! Stay tuned for future blogs on these gifts of the earth!
