Happy New Year’s Eve All!

First and foremost, all of us here at MACS wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe 2019.  We’re so appreciative and grateful for each and every one of you that has graced us and allowed us to show you your true, natural beauty.  We wouldn’t be here without you. We love you all.

Now, for those New Year’s resolutions.  Do you buy into it? Try it and fail? I’ve tried so many times to really stick to it but I always seem to fall off and say, “I’ll do better.  The first of the month, I’m starting over”. Yeah, that NEVER happens. Ugh. BUT, this year I vow to myself that I’m going to focus on self care and self love.  Here is a list of my new year’s resolutions. Please join me on the journey for self love, self acceptance and being confident in our own skin, because, despite what we tell ourselves in the mirror, we’re all beautiful, kind, wonderful human beings.

1:  Stay hydrated.  I’m guilty of not drinking enough water, but also not drinking enough period.  So, in order to change this, I’m going to make it a point to carry a refillable water bottle with me at all times.  Maybe I’ll even get fancy and put some fruit in my water to make it taste even more yummy and look more appealing. Also, I’ll be refraining from using disposable straws.  They harm the environment and animal life. No thanks!

2: Exercise more.  Yes. The stereotypical “exercise more, lose weight”.  But REALLY. I’m doing it. I’m going to force myself to join a gym, learn about different machines that will help me to create the body that I know I can achieve and that I desire to have.  I may look silly in the process but hey!, I can laugh at myself while admiring my baby abs, right?!

3: Eat a more healthy, balanced diet.  This is so important. Being someone that suffers with an autoimmune disease, it’s important that I focus on proper nutrition.  I’ve heard so many athletes and person trainers say, “abs are made in the kitchen” and shamefully, I never listened until I grew a spare tire around my middle.  NOW I HEAR THEM LOUD AND CLEAR. So I’m on my way to learning about the proper foods I need to maintain a healthy, balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

4: Relax.  This is a big one.  I’m always on the go.  I feel guilty if I relax because there are a million and one things I could be doing. But, it’s imperative to relax and take a minute to breathe amongst the stressors and chaos of everyday life.  If it’s for 5 minutes, that’s 5 minutes I had the opportunity to let my shoulders drop, my eyes close, my feet rest. I’m okay with that, and I welcome that.

5: Be more present.  I spend a lot of time and energy focusing on things that I cannot change, or living in the past.  So this year, I’m doing my best to be present and enjoy every moment as it comes.

6: Put my phone down.  Social media and technology detox.  So many times I see individuals at the dinner table with their faces in their phones and not conversing with the person sitting across from them.  I’m guilty of it at times too. But I’m making a conscious effort to engage with people face to face. There’s something so invigorating and fulfilling about seeing expression and life in someone’s face when you’re speaking.

Although some of these “resolutions” may seem odd or not the norm, they’re a reminder to me of what I want to shape my next year to be.  May you all reach and surpass your goals, dreams and desires.

From my hopeful, wishful and grateful heart to yours, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Cheers,

Casey
