It’s Time to Moisturize!

During these chilly November months, you’re sure to often find the cold, bitter wind stinging your face and skin.  Even if your skin does not tend to have an overall dry sensation, whether face or body, moisturizing should be an essential part of your daily routine.  Keeping the skin moisturized will prevent aging and destruction of collagen, and your skin will simply be overall healthier!

In many cases during the colder months, people’s skin will lose so much moisture that it starts to flake or have irritation, and NO ONE wants that!  Even if your case is not so severe, moisturizing daily will immediately help your complexion become brighter and healthier looking in general, taking away any dullness.

It has been proven that moisturizing consistently adds a barrier of protection, helping your skin to function to the best of its ability.  This in turn truly aids in the repairing of any damage, fighting of breakouts, and preventing of wrinkles. When you come in from the cold and hop into a hot shower or bath, as much as it is soothing, hot water strips oils and moisture from the skin.  It is essential to moisturize your face and body directly after the shower while the skin is moist and the moisturizer itself can penetrate properly into the skin.

Depending on the type of skin you have and the problems you have with your skin, different types of moisturizers can be more beneficial than others.  These are just some suggestions to help you find the perfect moisturizer for you!

Normal skin:  A light moisturizer or perhaps a water-based moisturizer is recommended.  (Try the Rosehip and Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator from Eminence!)

Dry skin: A moisturizer that will help restore moisture levels in the skin is necessary, so moisturizers that are oil-based are very beneficial.  (Try the Apricot Whip Moisturizer from Eminence!)

Oily skin:  It is still extremely important to moisturize, even if your skin is a bit more oily.  Consider a very light moisturizer that isn’t thick, or especially a water-based one. (Try the Tropical Vanilla Day Cream or the Stone Crop Hydrating Gel from Eminence!)

Sensitive skin: Consider a moisturizer with ingredients that will soothe the skin, like chamomile or aloe.  (Try the Calm Skin Chamomile Moisturizer from Eminence!)

Mature Skin: An oil-based moisturizer with antioxidants will be most beneficial in keeping the skin hydrated whilst fighting off symptoms of aging.  (Try the Coconut Age Corrective Moisturizer from Eminence!)

Always stay warm and HYDRATED this fall and winter season, lovelies!  🙂
