Tips for Long-Lasting, Flawless Summer Makeup!
Even though summer is slowly winding down, August still has beautiful, hot weather, and you still have plenty of time for days and activities outdoors, in the sun, swimming, etc! We all know the feeling when you were very happy with your makeup and general appearance for an event or even any day in general, just to have it all melt off in the heat, or wear away throughout a long day! There are some troubleshooting tips and tricks to prevent this, and to keep makeup looking flawless in the summer, or even just any long day in general!
Tip 1: SPF IS KEY!
For obvious reasons, if you’re out in the sun, you’re going to want to have SPF in your moisturizer, underneath your makeup, or you may find some foundations with SPF built into them already! Here at MAC’s, we sell Eminence moisturizers that not only have organic ingredients to enhance and protect your skin, but some even have SPF, such as the Tropical Vanilla Day Cream, the Bright Skin Moisturizer, and the Red Currant Protective Moisturizer. These are essential for the protection and preservation of your skin!
Tip 2: Prime and SET, SET, SET!!!
If you want your makeup to last and look flawless all day long, make sure to use a face primer to lock in the makeup you put over it. Even more importantly, investing in a good quality makeup setting spray will absolutely save your life! It will lock in all the products on your face, melting them into your skin and making your makeup stay fresh and flawless!
Tip 3: Look for “waterproof” labels!
Some may not like how long and strongly waterproof makeup lasts, but it can definitely help in the heat, water, or for longevity. Waterproof mascaras and eyeliners will prevent any black flaking of the two, as well as any creasing or melting of eyeliner, and that may be the key to keeping your skin looking unflawed!
Tip 4: Find what works for YOU!
Not every primer, foundation, concealer powder, etc. will work for you, last all day for you, or even work perfectly with the formulation of the other products on your face. A good way to troubleshoot this is by knowing your skin type! If you have more oily skin, you will want to look for more “matte” type makeup products, and if you have more dry skin, perhaps for the summer you will want to find something dewey, or even with a lighter coverage so your makeup strays from looking cakey.
Tip 5: Be ambitious with trial and error!
The first products you choose to wear on a hot, busy summer day will not always work for you! At the end of the day, look closely at your makeup and find any areas you have a problem with, then try a new product or a new product combination, such as perhaps a different primer with the foundation you like. Most importantly, don’t give up, bring some concealer and blotting papers with you, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
