Lash Serum vs Lash Conditioner
Does Lash Serum really work??
You see it advertised everywhere you go, internet, facebook, Instagram… Big lashes are in and I mean who would want big beautiful bold eyes? We have turned to eyelash extensions but we also grab the lash serum before bed every night. Not all eyelash Serums are made the same, there is actually a difference between eyelash conditioner and eyelash growth serums.
What is a lash serum?
Lash serums are growth-boosting formulas that stimulate lash growth. Serums work on improving the health of the natural hair follicles. They are packed with conditioning peptides and fatty acids to stimulate and promote lash growth. When applied regularly, the lash serum extends the telogen phase of growth, lengthening the lash growth cycle. This will keep lashes stronger and thicker for longer.
Who should be using a lash serum and why?
While anyone can benefit from the use of a lash serum, we have found the formula to be especially helpful for anyone who has weak, short or brittle natural lashes. We also recommend the use of a serum to anyone who has experienced breakage or premature lash loss. Serums can also benefit those who have found that their natural lashes have become more delicate or weak over time.
Conditioners can help lashes in much the same way they treat scalp hair, by softening the hairs themselves and smoothing over the outer layer of the hair shaft, which can be damaged from day-to-day. Considering that mascara is one of the most popular cosmetics on the market, that’s something most everyone could benefit from.
How to tell a conditioner and serum apart
Lash conditioners and traditional eyelash serums are actually meant to do different things. A lash conditioner will keep your natural lashes moisturized and give them the nutrients they need A serum, on the other hand, is more likely to have ingredients such as peptides and amino acids that can actually help new lashes grow, lengthen, and add density to your natural lash line.
It’s important to note, however, that many oils, which might be branded as “serums” on the tube also provide hydrating benefits to lashes. Teaming up a serum with a lash conditioner is a surefire way to get longer and fuller lashes.
What to look for in a formula
As is the case with all beauty products, avoid product around the eye if it includes fragrance or preservatives. Caution–some super-intensive serums can cause discoloration along the lash line. My suggestion is that you do your research before putting anything near your eye, and even ask your doctor about how the active ingredients in your serum may affect you.
The bottom line is making your lashes part of your beauty routine is a must. Lash serum and conditioners are a great cocktail to give you beautiful, healthy and long lashes. I mean seriously who doesn’t want beautiful long lashes??
